Aerating / Coring
Coring is a very important practice when it comes to maintaining a healthy lawn.
Coring is the physical removal of small plugs from the lawn. This is achieved using a machine which punches 75mm holes into the lawn removing the plugs and leaving them on the surface. Coring relieves compaction and compaction is a serious issue which decreases the amount of air/water that can penetrate to the root zone. It can cause water run off, restrict the flow of nutrients to the roots and will generally decrease your lawn growth and health. After coring the small holes allow water, oxygen and nutrients to instantly flood into the root zone resulting in the growth and health of your lawn.
The best time of the year to Core your lawn is at the start of the growing season with an additional application of fertiliser and wetting agent. This will give your lawn the boost it needs to recover and thrive in our hot summers.
Coring is also beneficial in Autumn as it allows our winter rains to flow into the root zone and prevent any fungal diseases from getting into your lawn.

Vertimowing
Vertimowing is the process of removing 'Thatch'
Thatch is a build up of grass litter and a matted layer of dead roots. It is detrimental to your lawns health and causes sponginess which prevents water and nutrients flowing to the roots, causes fungal issues, and and unsightly discoloured appearance.
Vertimowing is achieved by using a specialised Vertimower which makes vertical cuts to the bottom of the grass blades, deeper into the thatch than your normal household mower can reach, then this old thatch is removed leaving a nice firm root base which then water and nutrients can easily penetrate and thrive.
On completion of your Vertimow your lawn will be completely brown making you think it may even be dead but rest assured within 4 weeks your lawn will be back greener and healthier than ever.
We use soil wetter and fertiliser as part of the package and will also give you a watering plan to get your lawn back thriving.
